Topps, makers of Garbage Pail Kids trading cards, was looking for a way to extend the GPK website and lengthen engagement with users on the site. The Buddy Group concepted and built-out a new portion of the site entitled Raise Your Own Garbage Pail Kid. Using the Garbage Pail Kid style guide and our own sick imagination, The Buddy Group created brand new Kids and plenty of disgusting accoutrements from which to choose. Building out a custom game engine, TBG utilized both action- and time-triggers to reward users with new functionality and provide (sickening) sustenance to keep users' Kids alive.
Within two months, the new area of the site was the most trafficked and had the longest user time-on-site.
